Gil Jacobs

He is the owner & operator of Audio Ninja Productions…he is also a sound designer and composer who was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Influenced and inspired by music of all walks of life from Classical to Dubstep. Driven by the emotional side of music & life and how it relays to auditory stimulation. His music has such a sound-scape which tends to engulf an emotional reaction which is perfect for film/television/gaming.
Early in his life he became fascinated by music, it became his outlet to the world. It was a way of expressing himself without having to say anything. Beginning at the age of 11 messing around on a piano which had been left by a previous tenant in a rental property where he had grown up. It was here where he began learning chords & chord progressions where he learned to express himself. By the time he hit his middle/late teen years his love for music which stemmed from the piano had progressed to playing guitar and even DJ-ing.
After high school until age 25 there really isn’t anything to tell musically. It was at this time where he decided to pick up his guitar seriously. Playing/writing vigorously for hours a day it was here that he turned to recording. While in college for radiation oncology he decided to drop out of college and enrolled into vocational school at Select Sound Studios where he received his hands on training for recording engineering. With the cost of home studio gear coming down in price and becoming affordable he began building a project studio. During a routine trip to Guitar Center for gear he learned about a program that was being offered at N.C.C.C. (Niagara County Community College). Where an Associate’s degree in Music, a certificate in ARP (Audio Recording & Production), and Certifications in Protools (100 & 110 Level) were achieved. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Industry at Villa Maria College. He has also attained two Masters in Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media at Academy of Arts University in San Francisco. The first MA is in Sound Design and the second in Scoring & Composition.
After college, he spent a few years in academia teaching audio engineering, Protools for video, and Protools for Gaming. During his development he also worked as an audio engineer and recording engineer in live and production environments. Along with that, he took up field recording to help with sound design as he was able to capture wild recording to develop into assets. This versatility has allowed him to work in all aspects of audio which is where the concept of being an audio ninja came from.
He eventually took the dive and moved to the Los Angeles, CA area where he worked with local artist and film makers to produce music and sound design for various projects. This came to a halt when Covid-19 hit and shutdown all projects which forced him and family to relocate home to the Lockport, NY area. It was here that he decided to open Audio Ninja Productions to continue his work in the industry and where his talents can be utilized.
